SRC Student - James Gracey wins Premier Young Butcher 2017

Southern Regional College student James Gracey of Quails of Dromore in County Down has been crowned the UK’s best young butcher, winning the title Premier Young Butcher 2017. The final was organised by the National Federation of Meat and Food Traders (NFMFT) and hosted by Yandell Media at MEATUP in the MK Arena in Milton Keynes.

NWRC catering student to sample life in Belgium

A student from NWRC has won a place at the prestigious Leuven Institute in Belgium. Adelle Doherty will spend three months at the Leuven Institute this Summer.

EU photo competition for students

Following the success of Cedefop’s photo competition last year, #CedefopPhotoAward is back in 2017. Groups of vocational education and training (VET) learners in the European Union can share their VET stories for a chance to win a trip to Brussels or Thessaloniki. It is open to groups of 2 or 3 learners, who are expected to produce an original photo story along with a short narrative that will explain the idea behind their work. The deadline for entries is 15 July 2017.

Celebrity chef Tony Singh gives NWRC's Foodovation Centre a 5* rating

A celebrity chef who was recently awarded an MBE by the Queen for his services to food and drink, has made a flying visit to North West Regional College’s (NWRC) innovative Foodovation Centre. Tony Singh, a regular on British television shows such as The Great British Menu, Saturday Kitchen and Ready Steady Cook, was given a tour of the research and development centre at NWRC Strand Road Campus, by manager Brian McDermott.

Four NI students selected for Team UK in WorldSkills 2017 being held in Abu Dhabi

32 students have been selected to represent Team UK in the 2017 Worldksills finals. The event, which is held every two years, will be hosted in Abu Dhabi in October 2017. We are delighted that 4 students from NI have been selected for the team.
