Further Education means success for Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland needs a thriving Further Education (FE) sector to compete globally and tackle social and economic inequalities. With ongoing financial pressures and political uncertainty, the value of the sector to NI cannot be underestimated.

Northern Regional College greenlight new campuses for Coleraine and Ballymena

The design contract for the new £84 million capital investment programme at Northern Regional College has been awarded to McAdam Design. This significant investment will deliver new state of the art campuses on the current sites in Coleraine and at Farm Lodge in Ballymena. The projects are scheduled to be completed by summer 2022 and are funded by the Department for the Economy.

Budget proposals fail to recognise that Further Education means success for Northern Ireland

Colleges Northern Ireland representing the six regional Further Education (FE) Colleges has demanded an urgent rethink on the proposals presented in the 2018-2020 Budgetary Outlook. The proposals undermine the life chances of the most vulnerable in society, fail to consider longer-term economic and social impacts and hit an already heavily rationalised FE sector.

FE sweeps board at the local Creative & Cultural Skills Awards

The theme of this year’s event was ‘Inspiring Talent, Realising Ambition’. The event, which was held at Belfast Met Springvale Campus in December 2017 explored these opportunities and also celebrated the success of the NI Creative Employment Programme, supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland National Lottery Funding. Among those recognised at the annual NI Creative & Cultural Skills Awards were three outstanding young people who won in the Apprentice, Intern and Student categories.

FE sector welcomes new Secretary of State on her first visit to NI

Northern Ireland's newly appointed Secretary State, Karen Bradley, made her first visit to NI today. Her first visit was to Belfast Met's Titanic Quarter Campus were she had the opportunity to speak to staff and students.
