What is an Apprentice?

Apprenticeships are an internationally recognised way of delivering training that gives people the skills they need and gives employers the skills their business requires.

Apprentices are employed on a permanent contract by a Northern Irish company for a minimum of 21 hours.

The Apprentice learns on-the-job with the employer and also attends off-the-job training, for example with one of Northern Ireland’s six Regional Colleges.
